1. Announcements
a. Jim will no longer bring signs to the courthouse for marches unless he gets a phone call requesting him to do so. Please allow at least 10-15 minutes for him to arrive.
2. Actions
a. Bank of America Protest on Wednesday, May 9th at 12 noon-1PM at Higuera & Santa Rosa Streets. Bring your own signs and noise makers. Trina will make handouts and will sign up through moveon.org so the event can be advertised to their subscribers.
b. Cards for imprisoned Occupy Oakland protestors were circulated and signed by all in attendance at the GA. Will be mailed out on Sunday.
3. Discussion
a. Low numbers at events / meetings – need new strategy
b. What happened to local campaigns that people were working on?
i. 24 hour public bathrooms
ii. Passing a local ordinance to get money out of politics
c. NATO meeting in Chicago 5/20-5/21.
d. Fracking in SLO meeting. Possibly on June 22nd. More info to come
e. Occupy SLO road trip to the Bay Area or LA for the next major Occupy event.
f. Continuing infringement on individuals’ privacy; expansion of police state
4. Housekeeping
a. www.occupyslo.org website
i. Calendar needs to be updated; but no final decisions were made. Some suggestions include:
1. Remove Food not Bombs
2. Add Tuesday evening City Council meetings
5. Calendar
a. Tuesday, May 8th 7PM: City Council Meeting. 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo. Speak out about injustices to local homeless population.
b. Wednesday, May 9th 12 noon: Bank of America Protest. Santa Rosa & Higuera Streets, San Luis Obispo.
c. Saturday, May 12th 4PM: BBQ Potluck at Mike’s house. Come to the GA at 1:30 PM for more details
d. Wednesday, May 16th: 7PM-9PM: Shannon Biggs will speak on the topic “Who Decides What Happens in Our Communities – Corporations or Local Governments?” At Mill & Santa Rosa Streets, San Luis Obispo – (864 Santa Rosa Street). Free Event
